Edmonton Baptist Church offers baptismal classes 2-3 times a year. The courses run for four weeks on a Sunday afternoon with the baptisms on the fifth Sunday during one of the services. There is no obligation to be baptised; you are welcome to attend the classes just to find out more.
Baptism does not make you a believer, it shows that you already are one!
Baptism does not "save" you, only your faith in Christ does that.
So why be baptised?
Because you want to follow Christ's example.
Because Jesus commanded it.
Because it shows you are a believer.
Because obeying Christ's command shows you know Him.
"Go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Matthew chapter 28, verses 19 to 20
What is the meaning of baptism?
It is a symbol of Christ's burial and resurrection.
It is a symbol of your new life as a Christian.
